OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY

In this class the student will go from Genesis to Malachi in chronological order, walking away with 40 key people, places, and events that point to that fact that God intends for a relationship with His people.  Questions on which prophet went where, which kings were in Israel verses Judah, and why did the Israelite wander for 40 years will all be answered.

OLD TESTAMENT POETRY

Old Testament Poetry will look at the penned songs of David as well as others, the love letters of the smitten Solomon, and the young and old wisdom of a king deemed the wisest to have ruled.  Students will engage in David's heart's cry for help, and work to apply the wisdom that is poured out before us in the Book of Proverbs. Come with your heart on your sleeve and perhaps a box of tissue.

The TORAH

Focusing only on the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, we will take a more detailed look at the foundations of the world, man, Law and faith.  We will delve into the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses, as well as look in detail at the Law God established and the Tabernacle's specifics.  This course will include some Hebrew in order to bring depth to understanding.

The MAJOR PROPHETS

Just because they are Major does not make them more important - it just makes them very talkative.  In this course we will look at the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel, all deemed as major prophets based on the content they wrote down.  We will then ask the question that should be asked of all prophets - did the prophecy come to pass?

OLD TESTAMENT HISTORY

Old Testament History will pick up from the Book of Joshua and bring the student to the years prior to Christ.  We will look at the conquest of Joshua as he leads Israel into the Promise Land, be an audience member is the establishing of Saul as King, and see the division of the Kingdom and the destruction that follows when God is not obeyed.  We will leave with hope, however, as the exiled ones return and the silent years speak.

The MINOR PROPHETS

They may be Minor, but they still are mighty.  These men spoke the Word of God, prophesying judgment, forgiveness, and the coming Christ.  But were their words true?  Who spoke to whom, and where did they speak?  Did their prophecies contradict each other or confirm one another.  The student will look at these books and see for themselves how God spoke then, and answer if He still speaks today.
